Libraries
Redbridge libraries form an integral part of the community, and we are fortunate to have libraries throughout the borough, many of which are open seven days a week, including evenings and weekends.

What our libraries offer?
Visit our libraries for books and to explore our eBooks, audiobooks, magazines, newspapers and reference services.
Most of the libraries offer reading groups, access to computers, free internet usage, community activities and events, knit and natter sessions, eAudio books rental, as well as a coffee shop at Central Library.
Redbridge Museum runs exhibitions, family events, a school’s education programme and supports local communities to explore heritage.
We have Lab Central, Hub Central and Redbridge Heritage Centre to enable digital learning, help businesses to develop and connect residents to the borough’s rich heritage.

Joining the library
It's free to join Redbridge libraries.
You can join the library online or at one of our branches.
On collection of your card, you will need to bring along one form of ID that shows your current name and address, for example, a driving or TV licence.
Home Library Service
Redbridge Libraries provides a free home delivery service for Redbridge residents, where you can borrow a variety of books and audiobooks.
You can borrow up to 20 items every three weeks. Your volunteer will contact you to arrange a mutually suitable date to collect and deliver.
If you or someone you know has ill health, limited mobility, a visual impairment or any other difficulty leaving the home and would like to sign up, please get in touch with the Home Library Service so we can discuss needs and check eligibility.

Books on prescription
Books on prescription helps you manage your wellbeing using self-help reading. The scheme is endorsed by health professionals and supported by public libraries.
The books provide helpful information and step-by-step self-help techniques for managing common conditions, including depression and anxiety.
The self-help books are available for anyone to borrow from their local library. Sometimes self-help books may be recommended by a GP, psychological wellbeing practitioner or another health professional, as a part of treatment.
Go to your local Redbridge library where you can borrow the book for free. If it’s not available, you can reserve it for free.
