Report hate crime

If you are being targeted because of prejudice or hate due to race, religious belief, sexuality, gender, disability or age then it is called hate crime.

Reporting a hate crime

If you are a victim of, or have witnessed, a hate crime or incident, you can report it to one of several organisations by:

What are hate crimes?

Hate crimes and hate incidents are crimes that are motivated by hostility or prejudice against a group of people based on a characteristic or perceived characteristic. 

This could be:

  • race
  • disability
  • religion or belief
  • gender
  • age
  • sexual orientation
  • trans and gender reassignment
  • disability - including physical and learning disabilities and mental health
  • the perception that someone fits into one of these categories, even if they do not
