The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) is a leading professional body for counselling and psychotherapy. It is also a key reference point for anyone seeking information on counselling and psychotherapy in the United Kingdom.

If counsellors are accredited by the BACP it means they have completed a certain amount of training and practice under supervision of the BACP. Some counsellors are members but not yet accredited which simply means they are working towards their accreditation.
