Carer's Allowance

If you are caring for someone with substantial needs such as a disability, the Carer's Allowance can help you to look after that person.  You do not have to be related to, or live with, the person that you care for. 

The Carer's Allowance is paid weekly in advance into a bank or building society account and is a taxable benefit.

It is possible to claim other benefits in addition to the Carer's Allowance. Although, due to the 'overlapping benefit rule' it may affect some benefits or pensions that the person you care for may already be receiving.
