If you struggle to stand while using public transport, there is a free ‘Please offer me a seat’ badge and card available to help you alert fellow customers that you need a seat.  

The badge and card can be used on all our services including the London Underground, London Overground, Elizabeth line, Buses, DLR, Trams and River Services.

Older Persons Freedom Pass Travel Service

The Older Persons Freedom Pass allows free travel on public transport across London and free local bus journeys nationally.  

You can apply for the Older Persons Freedom Pass if you meet the age criteria and you live  in Redbridge.

60+ London Oyster photocard Travel Service

If you are aged 60 or over, are not yet eligible for the Older Persons Freedom Pass, and do not meet any of the automatic criteria, you can apply for the London 60+ Oyster Card.

Abbeyfield House

Located in New Wanstead, Abbeyfield House provides sheltered housing with support from professional staff. They have good public transport links close by and the house is located close to Wanstead High Street, filled with an array of shops, supermarkets, cafes, day centres, churches and pubs.

Built in 1965, Abbeyfield House consists of 10 rooms, which are all unfurnished so you can personalise your room with your belongings and make it feel like a home from home. The rooms come with an en-suite toilet and a kitchenette allowing you to have breakfast at your own pace; and they provide tasty and nutritious home cooked meals at lunch and teatime, served in the communal dining room with French doors overlooking the garden.

Action on Elder Abuse (AEA) is a specialist organisation that focuses on preventing and raising awareness of abuse in old age, including those with dementia. They challenge elder abuse and are committed to providing education, promoting research and disseminating useful information.

AEA offers support and information for those living in UK sheltered housing, care homes, hospitals or in their own homes who are at risk of abuse.

Action for Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) helps adults and children with autistic spectrum disorders to live with as much independence as possible by offering specialist advice and support to its members.

It has a specially equipped resource centre which includes soft play areas, bouncy castles, activity zones, games, internet resources and meeting facilities. As well as offering support to individuals, the charity has an active carers community and is open to anyone who is affected by the condition.

As a public health organisation, ASH offers a wealth of non-judgemental, information on smoking-related issues.
