Redbridge Respite Care Association is a charity that supports people with mental health problems, including dementia, and their carers, living in the community. Trained staff visit families at home and provide both practical and emotional support.

They also run a day centre for people living with dementia, providing activities and home cooked food.

There is also a monthly drop-in service on Thursdays for people on the day centre waiting list.

Redbridge Voluntary Care

Redbridge Voluntary Care has about 130 volunteers with no paid staff. Most volunteers are retired although some are still at work and offer weekend help only.
When a request for help comes in from a client, carer or alternatively from Age UK or a social worker, the Duty Officer matches up volunteers to the request and then phones the volunteers to see who is available for the required date, time or task.

Redbridge Sensory Services Centre provide specialist services to adults in Redbridge with sight impairment, hearing impairment, people with dual sensory loss/deaf-blind and deaf people.

  • information, advice and training about sensory loss
  • support of individuals
  • a weekly drop-in session with a community British Sign Language interpreter
  • a community base for clubs
