Support and help for adults

A social club for anyone who has difficulties with their sight and wants to meet other people in similar circumstances.

They provide meetings on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month. The club is run by a dedicated group of volunteers and you enjoy live entertainment with a cup of tea and home baked cakes. There are regular themed lunches and afternoon teas together with a summer party and Christmas lunch.

Members are welcome to come with a carer if they need them. You pay a voluntary contribution towards the afternoon tea and there is also a weekly collection towards a local school for visually impaired youngsters.

Leytonstone Job Centre Plus is a government agency supporting people of working age from welfare into work, and helping employers to fill their vacancies.

Their aims are to:

• help more people into paid work
• help employers fill their vacancies, and
• give people of working age the help and support they are entitled to if they cannot work

Waltham Forest College offer a wide range of vocational and traditional courses and is based over four sites within Waltham Forest.

The Welfare and Money Advice Team are committed to assisting Redbridge residents to claim the benefits and credits which they may be entitled to.

The Welfare and Money Advice Team offer the following services:

• They work with the community to raise awareness of benefits, and how to claim them
• They advise clients about the benefits they may be entitled to
• They run weekly surgeries at the Customer Service Centre and ad-hoc surgeries at health facilities around the borough, all surgeries are by appointment only
• They can provide advice on how to prepare for Social Security Appeal Tribunals
• They work in partnership with other council services and the voluntary sector to promote social inclusion in Redbridge
